| Introduction | When I first started studying animal behaviour and marine mammals in particular, I heard of women giving birth with dolphins, in water. Intrigued by the idea I delved into research, books and websites and discovered a whole new world. Birth was one vast and fascinating world! The idea of natural and respectful birth sat in a corner of my mind as I pursued my career, in the corporate world then as a community outreach coordinator and facilitator in the non-profit sector. When I was expecting my baby, the whole birth reality sprang back up. I rediscovered the passion, the politics, the realities and stories behind the usual scary view society continues to promote. Birthing Goddess was born out of the feeling that women should be supported in their choices around birth and motherhood. Today, I am studying to become a certified Lamaze childbirth educator and a doula. My goal is to help women experience the true transformative power of pregnancy and birth with joy and freedom of choice. I hope you will join me on this journey! |
