It's just that I was too tired in the last few days to make a serious and emotional \"looking back post\" and it's only now that I become inspired to actually write one.\u003cbr /\u003e\u003cbr /\u003eI usually describe my years according to the major milestones I felt or experienced in that year. Like 2004 was The Year I Fell In Love, alternately 2005 and 2006 were the The Year I Messed Up and The Year My Heart Got Broken In So Many Ways (I still can't decide which is which) and 2007 was The Year I Became Smart - literally and figuratively. \u003cbr /\u003e\u003cbr /\u003e2008 was a year of great blessings for me. Yeah, I still have the occasional trials and hardships in various aspects of my life but it was nothing compared to the tumultuous years I had in the past (Hello, 2005 \u0026 2006!). 2008 was very generous to me even if I don't deserve all the things that were given to me.\u003cbr /\u003e\u003cbr /\u003eThe Year I Turned Thirty was probably the best description I can give to 2008. Turning thirty years old (and single at that) can be a dread. I used to fear it when I was still on my twenties. But being on this year actually opened doors for me. Come with the age is the respect and a certain reverence. I am still funny, clumsy  and carefree but I already sense a certain maturity within me which I've been hoping to achieve for years. My views and convictions are now on the serious path compared to the ideals I had a few years back. Oh, and thirty is \"happiness\". I'm now happier and more contented with my life compared before.\u003cbr /\u003e\u003cbr /\u003eThe most-asked-and-I-often-despise question of the year was of course the boyfriend question. \"Do you have one?\" \"When are you going to have one?\" \u003ci\u003e\"Mag-diet ka kaya\u003c/i\u003e so you can have one?\" I am tired of answering these questions so I often answer in jest or sarcastically. My usual answers were \"I am not interested!\" or \"I've long given up on love!\". Then there will be another batch of questions and opinions ranging from \"But why? You're still young! Don't give up!\" to \"Why? Are you now interested in women?\". Oh well! The truth is I feel so indifferent about it. Yeah, there are guys out there who asks; and friends keep on fixing me up with people BUT I just don't feel it. The past, though very painful and a bit traumatic, is no longer an issue for me. I have longed forgiven myself and moved on from it. I just want to be happy all by myself for the meantime. I want to be single and discover things for the meantime. I want peace and serenity for now. I'll be ready when I'll be ready. :)\u003cbr /\u003e\u003cbr /\u003eIt was a less emotional year for me except for the fact that one of my good friends unexpectedly died last February. Binchy definitely struck a cord in all of us but we believe that he's now in a happier and better place. Aside from that, everything was smooth-sailing and drama-free. There was the usual pressure and competition but it helped us more than it broke us. Heading a team was really a challenge especially if you were out to prove something. There were a lot of guts, second guessing and prayers involved as we launch one project after another. I am definitely happier and more contented with my current career compared to all the other past jobs I held. I was dead tired the week before since we were on Strategic Planning session for two whole days and I was the one who compiled and made our presentation. It turned out fairly well. I am really proud of what we did.\u003cbr /\u003e\u003cbr /\u003eThe highlight of my week was the issuance of two checks that served as my last pay from my previous company. Whew! I was not expecting it so it was truly a welcome surprise. Since there were a lot of pains and hurts associated with them, I decided to invest most of the money rather than spend it. The long nights, the lost friendships and relationships, the chaotic life, my absence in family and friends' get-together, the work stress, and the more than 10 lbs. I gained from the experience can never be returned back to me (well, I can lose the weight!) so I feel that there will be no fulfillment or gratification in spending them. It was a very very hard and challenging two years and I can fully say that I am indeed in a better place now. My deposition, my outlook in life, and the even the relationship I am having with my friends and family now is truly way way better. When I look back at the time spent there I cannot help but ask myself: \u003cem\u003e\"what was I thinking?\"\u003c/em\u003e. I am not bitter and I definitely moved on from it already. I would've probably stayed longer if I opted for the Foot Spa. Laxare is really a good place for pampering services. They also offer superb Thai/Swedish Massages which is not as expensive like the ones offered at The Spa or Urban Spa. Laxare Nail Spa is located at the 3rd Level of Festival Mall in Filinvest.\u003cbr /\u003e\u003cbr /\u003eI also went to Powerbooks and contemplated on buying three books. I have this crazy rule that I will not buy any book if I still have unread books at home. I also make it a point to buy just one book at a time. I had this \"gluttony book\" thing since I can remember so I imposed book rules upon myself to save my bank account. To prove that it's not really her but her career that drives men out, she went out with different males and pretended that she's a dumb blonde instead of the hotshot attorney that she is. The men all fell for it/her. Duh! I started in my new work last July 2 at this Simply Amazing company. I've wanted to work at this company for the longest time. I've been applying for various positions since I resigned from Honda in 2004 but I've been unlucky until now. Everyone is friendly and is helping me adjust to the new work environment. My boss treated me to a Welcome Lunch together with my group last Friday to familiarize me more with the people and the culture at our company. My boss is cool but truly expects a lot from me. I have a lot of deliverables and I have to make my section really fly-high. I understand all the concepts, templates, budgets and plans that were discussed to me (thanks to the years at Honda and Goodyear) but I must really undergo training and immersion to familiarize myself more to the different operational procedures, services and products. It's conservative, the organization is less flat and the people are also industrious and capable. Even budget approvals and proposal frameworks are the same. I also love the way it gives importance to employees' welfare and to the adage \"work hard, play harder\". We have regular company outings that has a very huge budget per person (my fellow groupmates just had theirs in Boracay), birthday celebrations (it's free HP \u0026 The Order of the Phoenix movie watch for the July and August celebrants) and fun parties. It's been a while since we've last seen Jamie. We organized a dinner get-together so Jamie can see Tin before she leaves for Beijing in mid-July. We had fun reminiscing yesteryears and talking about our gallbladder-less abdomens. Too bad we were not able to take pictures. \u003cbr /\u003e\u003cbr /\u003eMy other Forces Friends (\u003ca href\u003d\"http://lilacstardust.blogspot.com\"\u003eAileen\u003c/a\u003e and \u003ca href\u003d\"http://charuzee.multiply.com\"\u003eCharo\u003c/a\u003e) and I will have another get-together this Saturday to properly say \"See Yah!\" to our dear Ex-Manang friend, Tin, who will jet-set again to Beijing for a very deserving new career.
