Selain aktif di bidang ak\u003cbr /\u003eademik, Franz Magnis Suseno atau akrab disapa dengan Romo Magnis merupakan seorang pastor Katolik.\u003cbr /\u003e\u003cbr /\u003eMeskipun seorang pemuka agama, Romo Magnis memiliki pandangan kebangsaan yang mendalam. Pada tahun 1961, di usia 25 tahun, Magnis yang saat itu masih tercatat sebagai warga Negara Jerman, datang ke Indonesia untuk belajar teologi dan budaya Jawa.\u003cbr /\u003e\u003cbr /\u003ePerjalanan spritual dan kultur membuatnya jatuh cinta pada Indonesia, dan memutuskan untuk menjadi Warga Negara Indonesia (WNI) dan terwujud pada tahun 1977. Kecintaannya tersebut membuatnya aktif dalam perjalanan kebangsaan, salah satunya adalah dengan menulis buku berjudul Etika Kebangsaan Etika Kemanusiaan. Di bidang pendidikan beliau pernah menjabat menjadi Direktur Program Pasca Sarjana Sekolah Tinggi Filsafat Driyarkara, Jakarta.
