Not a bad idea. Best revenge is to live well. However, I can't call those efforts "genuine altruism". Genuine altruism is what leftists want you to do for those who have "less priviledge" than you, to give up your stuff. I've had the experience of doing both, and self-improvement feels very, very self-centered (but in a good way).
