James Otis, Sr., had at least three Mashpee people indentured to him in the early 1700s. He was also the province-appointed guardian for the Mashpee community, and fancied himself an expert on Indian affairs.
I can’t find any example of the story of the younger James Otis having a Native man in his household, family, or office.
