J.L., thank you for this very interesting series of posts about Charles Adams. I’d like to observe that in 18th century parlance, “naked” could have referred to any state of undress. Mr. Russell might have been without his coat. In any event, I doubt he was completely unclothed! Which —maybe unfortunately? — makes the rumour of nakedness in Harvard Yard even less titillating... but debunking myths is what you do so well!
