I don't know when it was put into RPG's, but I really like the "Bookmark" feature, that will create a temporary save file that is deleted once you start again. It's definitely helpful in situations where you have to immediately pull yourself away from the game and are not close to a save point. The Switch is nice in this regard too as you can just put the whole system in sleep mode (assuming that the game itself has a pause mode.
