The military jets with shockwave photos are not supersonic. They are 'trans-sonic', which means that the plane itself is going less than the speed of sound, but the air surrounding the plane is actually going FASTER than the speed of sound (relative to the plane) at some points on the airframe.
Oh, and as a recently retired airline pilot, I'll say that 'Chem-trails' is nonsense. Thank you.
