I'm sure lots of folks can see triggers for posts flaming murdered officers. Here's a few:
A culture of violence by police against citizens becoming the norm, with the police investigating these acts and finding them within policy."
No knock raids, in which infants are maimed, the elderly or infirm murdered, because of a bogus "tip" or, as we have now learned, because police apparently now fake 911 calls.
Stop & frisk.
Police treating anyone who is a Christian, libertarian, constitutionalist, gun owner, or a laundry list of other reasons, as "terrorists."
Governments spying on everyone.
Police beating citizens who don't respect their authortah, then charging them with resisting arrest when an officer hurts his hand breaking someone's face.
Perjury, subornation of perjury, (see Brady list) by police officers.
Police arming themselves with bona fide "weapons of war," like automatic weapons and APC's.
COIN tactics accepted as just good policing.
Shooting every dog in pistol range.
And the list goes on and on and on.
It's awful for the wives to see these posts. Maybe some of the recent deceased officers were really good guys.
But - how can there be a single good cop in a agency if they allow even one bad cop to get away with crushing people's rights, and close ranks around the officer?
So - where are the good cops? Full disclosure: One of my best friends is an ex-cop, who can't believe the crap that's going on.
So, no - to some of us, this isn't a surprise. Maybe in poor taste, but not surprising.
