I skimmed through the post, but it wouldn't let me comment, (lovely computers) so I'll leave my comment here.
"It is not a gun you can hunt with." Really? That's real funny since I took my first deer with an iron-sighted Chinese SKS. I shot it through the timber at about 50 yards with a Russian made soft point hunting round. I made a very nice head shot with this rifle that is totally unsuitable for hunting.
Sombody ought to slap some sense into Keith Rowell and Chief Cochran.
I also find it real funny that the Chief claims that the 7.62x39 round is "powerful". My .243 is way more powerful than my SKS. What a hoot! The 7.62x39 dies at 300 yards or so and the .243 is good out past 500 yards. Not only that, I shot a buck last year at 100 yds. with the .243. Hit him just aft of the right shoulder with a 100 gr. Hornady Interlock SPBT backed by 47 gr. of IMR7828. Went clean through. Damage to the heart/lung area and exit hole in ribs of the off-side was bigger than my fist.
If I'm going to shot at, I'd really rather get shot at by someone with a 7.62x39 than a .243 any day.
Do these morons not know that the most dangerous man on the battlefield fires a bolt action rifle?
By the way, I made the above comment about the most dangerous man on the battlefield to some reporters during Wayne Fincher's trial. They wouldn't even touch it.
