If the City Police force was up to strength we wouldn't have needed the special task force. The elected officials cared more for squandering our tax money among their donors and friends then they cared about keeping us safe.We are down about 75 cops, according to senior police staff and I haven't heard one word from the Mayor and/or Council that more cops will be hired.

I second the Felix Ortiz comment. Let him enhance the safety of our City. He is a Great Leader and can help with our crime problem. We need great leaders to win the War against crime in Hartford.

I don't think there would be a need for such a task force if the city just kept good working relationships with other agencys. EX....ATF would be nice to have working in the city to help put these gun guys away for a long time, but we know the toxic relationship HPD has with them. A regular working relationship with DCF would be nice and a great source of info and resources that other Depts rely on and use regularly. There should be no need for a patrolman to have to call the DCF hotline on a routine call that uncovers a neglect issue. The list goes on.
