Democratic Registrar Olga Vazquez on Friday confirmed Bramante's concerns, estimating that she spent about $98,000 for the election.

"They asked me if I could do it with $67,000 and I said, 'No, I don't think so,'" Vazquez said, adding that she hired the number of people and spent the money she felt was necessary to conduct a fair election.

It seems to me that some sort of explanation would be in order. You called Sal Bramante "incompetent," said he "spewed nonsense," and that the Republican Party benefited from his "lying and untruths." Attorney Wooden opined that Mr. Bramante was being "wasteful, unresponsive and combative." There is no evidence for these assertions. Rather, the character of their authors is by them called into question.
But now that you mention it, I don't understand how any taxpaying citizen of the Nutmeg Capital benefits from the $100g Democratic Town Committee election.

Detroit:Hartford::$200million:$50million
----------------------------------
The clock's running out on Detroit. City leaders are up against a $200 million deficit driven by exploding labor costs and may not be able to pay the bills come May. The state of Michigan has just swept in with a deux ex machina. Trouble is, city pols don't like the strings attached.

Governor Rick Snyder is offering Detroit a "consent agreement," which includes $100 million of state-backed bonds that would tide the city over until labor agreements can be restructured. The catch: Labor agreements will have to be restructured. The compact between the state and the city would turn over financial decision-making to a nine-member financial advisory board of state and city appointees who would have the authority to amend labor contracts.
