So Bronin bought a job. Bronin is no King, he is "Richie Rich".

Lies, deceit, corruption, political favors, spouse running you, phony loyalities, no honor, no concern for Taxpayers and Arrogant; these are Hartford's qualifications for Mayor in Hartford.
Perez had them...
Segarra had them...
Bronin has them...

Just like on the Natiinal Stage, elections are bought !

I'm no politician, just a city employee. I went to a Bronin fundraiser at Shawn Wooden's house and gave the campaign $250. On primary day my wife and I voted for Bronin and we got 10 other people to do the same thing. I really feel betrayed by Bronin because he gave money...my money...supporters money...to a corrupt individual like Pedro Peter Maria Segarra without telling his supporters that he was funding the enemy. In addition,at his Inauguration, Bronin stated that his administration would be very transparent.....he obviously lied to me and all of his supporters. At the opening ceremony of the
Puerto Rican Parade Bronin publically stated that Segarra was one of the best Mayors that Hartford has had...that made e want to vomit.
It seems that Bronin is just. another lying politician.j

Maybe a little more digging is in order as to who Diana Tomeszko actually is. FOI her emails and see if she is actually working on "strategic Partnerships" as her title implies or is she actually the City Paid personal assistant to Sara Bronin, Sara has taken up daily residence in City Hall and is attempting to run the operation.

Keep digging, the $1500.00 payment is only the tip of the iceberg for the illegal plan concocted last Labor Day weekend when Segaqrra's campaign was floundering financially. Juan Figueroa, Minnie Gonzalez and Segarra were frantically working the phones to raise money. That didn't happen and they didn't come up with the money to keep the campaign afloat. The deal was cooked up that if Segarra dropped out of the race, Bronin would pay off approximately $100,000 of Segarra's debt. This is only the first payment, at least on the books. Luke wanted the job badly and this was the first step in the plan for his political career and he was willing to pay. I'm sure he never figured you would find out and start raising questions. Good work.

If your premiss is correct, and I don't have reason to disbelieve you, then nothing wrong took place. Bronin had the money in his campaign. And he used it to buy an out for an opponent. If you have a problem with this, and I do but these are the rules, then let's change the rules. Right, campaign finance reform. Fat chance. But Bronin did not participate in any ethical breach if this story is correct.

Give it and him, a break.

Not everything needs to be criminal in nature to be wrong, there are still moral standards of integrity. Many people donated to the Bronin campaign in good faith because they believed in the candidate, not to have there money funneled to Segarra through the back door

This dose not surprise me. Luke Bronon for Mayor. Bronin knew exactly what he was doing. To raise one million dollars to become the Mayor of Hartford is crazy. He pulled a small number of votes out on election day. Now, we understand where a portion of his fortune went to. I should have moved out of Harford a long time ago. Bronin and company will never bring Hartford back to the vibrant city it was for many years. Bronin's rating has gone down in recent mouths. Bronin announcing at he Puerto Rican celebration that Pedro Segarra was a great Mayor makes me sick. The last laugh will be on Bronin. He will never get re-elected.

Kevin, how dare you mention morality and politics in one paragraph. Seriously, Bronin used the money to his advantage because had there been a three way race with Bob Killian, or whatever, he could have lost. Where is the lack of morality here? I see nothing immoral about it. what is wrong with helping an opponent retire a campaign debt. The person or persons that contributed to his campaign probably didn't have written clauses attached to the donation. Again, I agree that the desperate need for money to finance a campaign is usually the eventual root cause of corruption. I am all in favor of limiting the duration of a campaign and strict monitoring of soft money.

Bronin has been caught dirty again... His chief of staff has ties to a major Hartford drug dealer who used to own the Emperor Club. Check out the HPD reports from when a hit squad was sent to Capitol av. to kill Bronins chief of staff.

It amazes me how bitter political candidates get during an election. Luke Bronin a savior for former Mayor Pedro Segarra's campaign debt is a move beyond stupidity for Bronin. To want a position so bad that you pay money for it is a sad situation. Hartford taxpayers have already seen the bad side of Luke Bronin. More corruption will follow if this is how Mayor Luke Bronin acts with campaign funds given by people who think it will support his candidacy.

Looking at the Management & Budget screen shot Kevin posted, I'm just wondering how many "Directors" are needed in one Department??? This is very similar to the Board of Ed. BTW, why does one of the Management & Budget "Directors" have a school e-mail address???

I agree with Bill. Pedro Segarra should have been thrown under the bus. Segarra and his two former Chief of Staffs Jared Kupiac and Juan Figueroa were clueless. Charlie Ortiz lead Segarra down the yellow dirty road. Yup Bronin, former Mayor Pedro Segarra was a great Mayor.
