According to the order it would appear that most of that responsibility was delegated to Assistant Chief Medina

Thank you for this post. I am a officer with kids and it's disgusting I get this information from a public blog not the pd. These chief don't care about us or our families and this proves it. What a joke this police department has become

I was told a vote of no confidence was brought up a while ago and you all were so scared to second it. Yeah it probably won’t do anything but it would be a starting point. The Hartford Police Patrol Officers are their own worse enemy. No unity, no pride, no balls! Stand up for yourselves and watch things change or just keep complaining to each other like little babies.
United we could stand but we choose to fall together instead!

Nothing new here. I rarely even see Thody in his office. Pretty sure they are ignoring COVID because to acknowledge it and put in the proper safe guards would mean even more money and officers away from the streets. They can't afford to lose more cops since we are losing them left and right to other better paying police departments.

Kevin, we have a list of calls we couldn't take that had to be taken over the phone by teleservr. Also dispatch was suppose to tell the complainant to wait outside for us. Now patrol response like COVID doesn't even exist. The COVID order lasted about a month.

I have made numerous complaints about officers failing to wear masks when interacting at close range with other officers and members of the public. There has been some improvement since my non-stop griping began months ago, but I still see cops talking at close range, maskless, with residents in the Frog Hollow neighborhood. It's inexcusable.

This is no surprise since none of the supervisors enforce the masks. They’re too busy leaving real wife at home to make sure their work wife is safe - rumors?? Not a rumor when we saw it and then heard how proud he was as the only one who stayed until work wife got released.
HPD needs to get their heads out of their asses and wake up. We are in the midst of a pandemic and have to beg for PPE.
We are loosing officers and no one seems to care, what are we doing to keep our seasoned officers?

I hope the real wife is not concerned with these comments - at this time.
Work wife should have known better then to have attached herself to a married man
It’s all fun and games until they cross that fine line.
Take this a reminder you don’t know who is watching and taking notes to use later against you

Stay safe & be vigilant.

Kevin, thank you for bringing this to the public light. As a department we need to collectively take action to not only protect ourselves and our families, but the community we serve too.

The policy makers (Command Staff: Chiefs, Captains, and certain Lieutenants) do NOT care about the physical and mental health; or morale of the department.

That being said Jason Thody’s tenure can only be summarized in this basic equation: incompitnent + embarrassment = FAILURE! I’ve not seen the Hartford Police Department in such disarray and shambles. Morale is at an all time low, officers are leaving in droves, and ultimately its the community, who are being negatively impacted.

However what else would you expect when the people in power misuse and abuse their authority, lie, cover up their corruption and only put their own best interest and NOT that of the collective good. The motto of the current chief of police, “Do as I say; and not as I do.”

And those who advocate against the malicious behavior find themselves subjected to falsified and inflated discipline, denial of special assignments and promotions.

As I’ve already expressed, Jason Thody and the command staff do NOT care one iota about the welfare of the rank and file of the police department, only their network of good ole boys. The command staff prioritizes their own best interest and not the men and women under their command, it's a reverse pyramid structure. This Is not leadership; and their actions or lack thereof is negligent.

Jason Thody’s history demonstrates that from the multiple Thody-gates over his career, which included conduct unbecoming, lying, being demoted, and numerous other malicious acts that have gone under or not reported. Anywhere else would have demanded his resignation incidents ago. However, Mayor Bronin is no fool, he’s keeping his puppet on a string in power.

Why would Jason Thody or the command staff care about the well-being of our officers’ and their families? The second floor is so far removed from the day-to-day operations and any potential exposure of COVID19 working out of the chief’s complex to remember what real police work is and the risk we take every day.

Last, while this is all taking place why has the union remained silent? And not espoused the best interest of the department, and demanded wide sweeping changes be made in the memberships best interest? They just remain dumbfounded and acquiesce to whatever agenda the administration pushes forward without any resistance.

Time to drain the swamp both at City Hall and HPD!!!
