Good morning

I saw the newest posting on officer morale and the issues mentioned have been in the blog have been the same as when I was a
Police officer, Detective and Sergeant. Not enough spare vehicles, others in disrepair and others that didn’t
work. Pay was always an issue and there were several years in the 1990’s in which we received 0% raises.
Officials in city government were sometimes dismissive, some were openly hostile to us and others were fully
supportive. Politicians have their own rules.

The supervisory issue is important. As a sergeant I was assigned to patrol, V & N, the Gang Task Force and
the Intelligence Division. In each I was in contact with officers and detectives every day.
That was done by all of us in that rank. There were many shifts with one sergeant north, one south and a
patrol commander. That was the job.

As for your description of culture shock experienced by Chief Rosado a better description might be that he left
for another opportunity. Any candidate for Chief should realize that departments are different.

Hartford Police have a high call volume, are exposed to violence (the job), see hostility from a segment of the
public and are the best trained because of on the job experience. It’s a tough job, many times thankless
but also rewarding and it becomes tough to feel supported when assailed from many sides including inside.

Support Hartford Police officers and fix the listed problems.

Have a nice day.

Nice to hear what issues HPD is dealing with. Too bad the city will shred this report and forget it ever happened. Business as usual. Now ask same questions in HFD.

Fire has same issues with pay, medical and pension rates. Fire Chief and assistant chief showing favoritism towards one ethnicity only.

You have to be mad, desperate or moronic to want to work in that environment. The national slogan across the good ole USA is dedund the police that speaks volumes.

As a Hartford Resident and Business owner I question myself many times how can these Officers do it. Leadership as they call it does not exist, one can not lead with one eye open and the other closed
Looking in all the signs point to a lack of leadership and communication, if you know someone something will get done , if you don't you just sit and wait .... Departments at every level have groups within a group who are in it for themselves
To me if it is not life or death situation i don't even both calling for help

Chris you were a very good Sergeant and cop, but you really need to STFU already. In your entire career, Thody and this administration, is far worse than any chief/administration you ever had to deal with. You really have no clue how bad he is. You would do a better job as chief easily.

I didn’t endorse anyone in that administration so I think I won’t STFU. But thank you for the last sentence which I would agree with.

Instilling pride, advocating for the officers because their job is extremely tough, and trying to insure that officers are properly compensated would be top jobs.

Have a nice weekend.

Anonymous 12:59 I didnt wanna say it lol. But Chris really dude stfu and enjoy retirement. Again you are a dinosaur from the black and white televison days of policing. In your day youd could back hand a suspect for talking slick out their mouth. Those days are long gone. Please just stfu
