Both of those are terribly addictive. While its a bit more difficult to get working on Linux (and has some non-free content), Spring is probably my favorite game of all time!
(I should note I don't really play many games, but I would think Spring would appeal even to hardcore gamers.)

Totem bug reports had mentions of free games that look of good quality. There's Tremulous, and Battle of Wesnoth. Look neat, and both are in the Fedora repo.
