To clarify the bug. It only happens when the name of the subtitle and the video file are same and you have "load subtitle automatically" enabled.

I am very much for updating new minor releases but think that backporting bug fixes (which are not part of a minor release) is non sense and very dangerous. It eats up a lot of time and in the end we end up with dozens of version of one applications in different releases. That is support hell. Vinci: Yes it's a pain, but a good distribution maintainer will look over the upstream bugs as well. “Packaging” isn't hard, maintaining and fixing bugs in what you package is.
Incidentally, I've asked for new upstream versions for the GStreamer packages in question, but some changes that got in as well as the existing schedule didn't allow for that. So I'm getting the fixes to the users instead of letting a bug simmer for weeks and alienate users.

FWIW: old post, but this (or similar) affects me on Fedora 14 and Fedora 17.
Anytime you click on any of the subtitle menu items video freezes.
I know this isn't a bug tracker, sorry.
Try it out :)
