I'm afraid that support for the Authentec 2810 won't happen unless somebody reverse engineers the protocol for it. You can see some (old) discussions about it on the fprint mailing-list.

Another week, another hardware enablement project. I'm now the official substitute maintainer for libfprint, the fingerprint reader library, and we just had a new release! If you have a newer Thinkpad, with the UPEK Eikon II reader, grab the latest version, and don't forget to apply this patch to the control-center, or the enrolling UI will look bizarre. All those bug fixes and new versions coming to a Fedora update shortly.

Glad to see this moving forward!
I currently have a useless metallic strip on my Thinkpad X301. It's a Authentec 2810, I'll file a bug once bugzilla is up.

I've got Authentec 2810 too. I'm willing to help to make it working.
