It is official, My son, my progeny, the carrier of the family name is now one month old. Words can not express how incredible the past four weeks have been. I could never have imagined that I could love something so much that does little other than sleep, eat, and poop.

The new arrival has made my life turn upside down, and I couldn't be happier.

Before I forget, I wanted to write down a few observations about babies, baby toys, and being a father.

The first lesson I learned as a parent is that the child rarely can tell the difference between 2:00 in the afternoon and 2:00 in the morning. Sleep deprivation, has become the rule not the exception. I am extremely lucky in that I have been blessed with an extremely kind loving wife who is extremely good with our baby, it also helps that I don't have any of the feeding equipment. As a result I generally get a lot more sleep than my wife, for that I am grateful.

The next important lesson is Constant Vigilance. Every night I get home from work we have some good family time for a bit, then The wife goes to bed and I take care of the little one for a few hours. Generally we just sit there and stare at each other. He seems pretty entertained, and I am completely fascinated by him. My responsibilities are simple, make sure he doesn't cry, and change his diaper when he needs it.

Right before bedtime I noticed that his diaper was feeling a bit soggy, so I took him to his changing table, disconnected the many fasteners of his clothing, and took off the diaper. I bent down to pick up a diaper. As I looked up I notice that there is a new water feature shooting from where I placed the baby......wait a minute, I don't remember a water feature in the babies room. The baby decided that it was time to fill his diaper, but his timing was a little bit off, and he forgot the diaper. Now everytime I have to change his diaper, I make sure that the replacement is there, just in case. Constant Vigilance.

The lessons learned have been innumerable as the diapers changed. Parenthood is good
