FWIW, Jeeves and Wooster was not a BBC production; it was commissioned by Granada TV and originally aired on Britain's commercial ITV network (of which Granada is part).

Sounds like fun, but I must point out that Jeeves is a valet, not a butler.

Amy Adams is a beam of sunshine in human form-- absolutely charming and delightful. This movie goes to the top of my must-see list for that reason alone. And fascinating observation about Indians and Wodehouse. I wonder what it is that appeals to them--the gentle comedy about the intricacies of social class, maybe?

Dashed if I can find the exact quote at short notice, but I believe Bertie says something like, "He is not a butler - though he can buttle with the best of them - but a gentleman's gentleman."

Box Office Poison.
Period English movie - check. Chick Flick - check. Butlers and stuff? - check.
I'm sure it's wonderful. I'm sure Meryl Streep would love it. No way in hell I'm going to see it.
BTW, British Film Industry - it's ok to make contemporary movies, as long as you don't mind actual people from this era watching them.
