>Jewish topics are of great interest to the press. The New York Times' search engine says the Grey Lady of journalism [etc.]<

A bit misleading or perhaps some tongue-in-cheek there. The NYT might as well be a Jewish newspaper (though Ochs hoped it wouldn't be).

For example, until I stopped reading it, at least one story referencing the Holocaust in some fashion appeared in seemingly every edition. (In other words, if an edition omitted this subject, I missed it.) That's unusual, frankly. This was roughly 1981-2003.

Haven't read it since the Iraq War cheerleading.

Via Instapundit: Local NBC Reporter Hilariously Denies Soviet Flags Present At May Day Rally: ‘What Do They Represent?’:

While covering a May Day rally in Manhattan’s Union Square on Wednesday, NBC New York reporter Ida Siegal was cornered and asked if her network planned to show the communist imagery the protesters were displaying. Hilarity ensued when Siegal immediately became defensive, denying she had seen any communist imagery and asking of the “Hammer-and-Sickle” flags: “What do they represent?”

-

(Emphasis in the original.)

Ida Siegal's expression in the photo is nicely blank: she wouldn't have a clue what those flags might mean. Her performance in the video clip is nice too: oblivious to the Communist flags, but wise to anyone asking about them.

Sometimes some members of the mass media are curiously blind to what's big, bold and right in front of their eyes.

(Actually it's a lot of members of the mass media, and high decision-makers in other fields too.)

This might be what's behind that curious blindness to and lack of interest in Jewish billionaires.

Steve, I think you've got to be misunderstanding your NYT's search results. Maybe the word "Jewish" appeared 11,000 times in 30 days, but 11,000 separate articles with the word Jewish? I don't think the Times runs 366 articles a day, let alone stories that mentions Jews. If it's off by a factor of 10 your point stands, but something definitely doesn't add up...

Well...of course that IS the ultimate goal, isn't it.

Stop 'em, frisk 'em, convince 'em to move.

The New York Times' search engine says the Grey Lady of journalism has posted 11,000 articles containing "Jewish" over the last 30 days.

This is just completely wrong. If you sort the results chronologically and scroll through them, you will see that there are actually 226 hits for "Jewish" (which also includes "Jew" and "Jews") in the last 30 days. Also, many of those hits are for articles that don't really have anything to do with Jews, like listings of community events and references to entities like the Jewish Health Center.

The Times search engine seems to automatically list a high number of results. If you set the search to "past 12 months" it says there are 10,800 hits for "Jewish", which can't be true if there were 10,700 in the last 30 days.

As another commenter pointed out, 366 articles a day with the word "Jewish" should suggest that something is wrong with your results.

There should be a Stewart Standard for Jewish touchiness. Here is the latest example.

Search for Jon's ingratiating interview with Richard Perle to realize blood is thicker than politics.

My wife was very close friends with one of the senior producers of his show. Jon is a really nasty piece of work supposedly.

On topic, with regards to his tribal solidarity, I seem to recall him appearing on Letterman back when Dave had a daytime show (I believe it was Letterman), and Jon Stewart was an up & coming comedian. Anyway, I remember Jon going off on this quasi rant about how "the Jews" all need to watch out, because one day "they" will come for them again in black vans and round them all up. I remember Dave trying to make a joke of it, but Jon was pretty earnest. I'd love for someone to dig up that clip....
