I have read, but not checked, that big pharma was responsible for writing much of obamacare.

If this is true, we can expect much less access to generics in the future.

Have you considered that Sullivan started on T for legitimate medical reasons relating to his HIV status?

Common realities of HIV+ life, some things shrink, ya know. Jus sayin.

How can a company have exclusive rights to be the manufacturer of a "generic" drug? Isn't that a paradox?

How can a company have exclusive rights to manufacture a supposedly "generic" dug? Isn't this a contradiction in terms?

Ranbaxy of India had a two year right to be the only generic manufacturer of gigadrug Lipitor, but agreed with Pfizer to delay introducing a generic version. Then when they did introduce a generic, it had to be recalled for having glass particles in the pills!

So the manufacture of pharmaceuticals constitutes yet another category of jobs which Americans just won't do anymore?

Too much physical labor?

Too low-tech?

Too passe?

Too demeaning?

PS: Mahindra has started advertising on the Rush Limbaugh show - at least out here in flyover country.

Cue John Deere rolling over in his grave...

My girlfriend's roommate works in BigLaw, often representing Big Pharma. For one case, the firm was trying to get an injunction against a generic drug. It was so profitable that if they succeeded in delaying the entry of the generic drug into the market for even one day, it would pay for all of the legal fees.

So we can save the budget by just letting entitlements go generic?

How is this practice, at its root, not a form of "price fixing"?

I'd like to see proof of payoffs made by Big Pharma to the Religious Right. "Nuke the potheads for Generalissimo Jesus" bumper stickers, and the like?

You omitted to mention "too low-pay."

Eight bucks per hour would just cover my gas plus a micro bag of chips. If that's all the available "jobs" pay, then it makes more sense to stay home and cook meth and/or chop cars.
