At this point I'm almost hoping it passes the Senate. In fact, I think the Democrats are, too - 22 of the 34 seats up for re-election are held by Republicans. With the way that Republicans are pissing off their base, that just doesn't bode well for GOP chances.

The Democrats are letting the GOP commit suicide. The GOP is obliging them.

This is what I posted today on that...
S.1639: New Monstrous Treachery Found in the 'Clay Pigeon'

..."those with probationary Z visa status - after name and fingerprint checks - are eligible to serve in the U.S. Armed Forces. Even worse, the feds only have one day to declare them ineligible:" ...that have not by the end of the next business day produced information rendering the applicant ineligible shall be eligible to serve as a member of the Armed Forces of the United States. I've personally had all I can stand from the national Republican party. Accordingly I've changed my voter registration to a party that fits my views but has a snowball's chance in hell of winning any election. The Republican party has historically been a Wall Street + Main Street alliance. Wall Street apparently believes that we have 'nowhere to go' if they abuse us. Perhaps they are correct in their assessment, but the best game theory move is to punish their defection aggressively. In a game of chicken, which is essentially what this is, it is not to a group's advantage to appear rational.

Hang in there. This thing isn't even out of the Senate yet. Keep calling, emailing, and faxing.

Here is the contact information.

Keep hope alive!

If public outrage has any influence on Thursday's cloture vote, then there may have been some positive signs today. I tried contacting my Senator's Washington number then his state number several times today getting a busy signal every time. Usually, I can get through to the state number.
