Steve, what about a Google adsense leaderboard right on top replacing one of the right side skyscrapers pushed so far down that hardly anybody will click on them? A leaderboard should get you a substantial amount. Get one of the skyscrapers topmost and it will yield about 50% of the leaderboard. Plaster the place with ads, I couldn't care less. Done that, remind your readers occasionally to just click on your ads before leaving. A matter of seconds once daily worth a lot. It's good form to support quality free content that way.

Auster is talking about you over at VFR. Sure you already know. I'm not quite understanding his point.

Thanks for the reminder - I tend to procrastinate.

NO! That's a very fast way to have your adsense account suspended.

I’d say Auster is attacking Steve (again) partly because of the fundraising appeal. I can’t think of any ideas Auster has ever come up with, although he has taken ideas from others, including little old me. Auster even took the website he uses from some guy named Kalb, who actually had a career as a lawyer, while Auster hasn’t had a career that anybody has discovered. Auster is at most a Johnny one note: Muslims, Israel, Muslims, Israel.

Meanwhile, Steve continues to produce interesting material on a wide range of topics.

Auster's point is that Steve has not replied to his, Auster's, ongoing criticism of him because he can't.

I don't think Auster gets Steve. My sense is that Auster takes everything personally and Steve takes very little personally.

I love how once or twice a year, Auster gets all wound up about Steve's silence. I suspect the reality is that Steve wouldn't mind replying if he didn't have anything better to do. But he does. So he doesn't.

(I'd provide a link but VFR seems to be down right now.)

He won't mention or refer to Steve for months at a time before suddenly writing about him.

There was a time before when he suddenly criticized Steve about something after Steve made a fundraising post.

I do wonder if he does it partly, whether consciously or subconsciously, because of the fundraising appeal.

But he does the same thing with Robert Spencer; that gal from SPLC, Heidi Beirich; that British journalist who wears the glasses and beads, etc.

He's pretty good about recycling his grievances so they don't get stale.

I didn't know that, but it's
true: "publishers ... may not ... [e]ncourage users to click the Google ads using phrases such as "click the ads", "support us" ..."

Anyway, as for the leaderboard suggestion I'm speaking from experience, my site's revenue doubled when adding a leaderboard.
