OT but hilarious:

"Borat anthem stuns Kazakh gold medallist in Kuwait"

http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/world-middle-east-17491344

"Kazakhstan's shooting team has been left stunned after a comedy national anthem from the film Borat was played at a medal ceremony at championships in Kuwait instead of the real one."

Here's video of the medal ceremony:

Nanny Bloomberg would probably regard this as a threat to public health, and set up firing squads for the gourmands.

It's all funny until a nuke goes off. And remember, you don't have to know how to make a cellphone in order to use one.

In the book All the King's Men one of the Huey Long character's catchphrases was "having peach ice cream in the big house"

I hope, if only for your sake, that this is sarcasm.

Yes, it's a mistake automatically to associate being intelligent with being dangerous.

Call the roller of big cigars,
The muscular one, and bid him whip
In kitchen cups concupiscent curds.
Let the wenches dawdle in such dress
As they are used to wear, and let the boys
Bring flowers in last month's newspapers.
Let be be finale of seem.
The only emperor is the emperor of ice-cream.

We can call it the Ice War. This icecream could be dangerous. You know, you can catch food poisoning if it's prepared in unsanitary conditions, just like in Cuba. A bioweapon as such.

Waiting to see the exit polls any moment for Louisiana and if Santorum is still running away with the women's vote. It's kind of unusual because women usually are pretty boring voters, in other words, they're not "moody". But not in this case.

NYTimes just came out with a good article asking why he appeals to women (foreign policy was not mentioned) so much and it even mentioned this:

"The Web site ricksantorum.com attracts more women than men, 60 percent of its visitors, a larger share than for the Web sites of other candidates, according to Nielsen ratings that were released last week."

Also:

"There is no mistaking the bond that Mr. Santorum has with conservative women — particularly married women — a group that has formed a core of his support since the primaries began in January. He has handily carried the votes of women in primaries that he has won, including those in Mississippi and Alabama. And where he has lost, in Arizona, South Carolina and Illinois, he has enjoyed a higher level of support among women than men."

Ice Cream Wars are no joke :

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Glasgow_Ice_Cream_Wars

British understatement is not dead, btw.

"The conflicts, in which vendors raided one another's vans and fired shotguns into one another's windscreens, were more violent than might typically be expected between ice-cream salesmen."

Maybe the feminists have more in common with Santorum than they think. If anyone should be on their knees begging for the Cold War to return, it's feminists.

Competition from the BRIC countries, which rose out of Communism's ashes, has been the worst thing possible for feminists' white-collar wish lists - so-called "flexible schedules" and "alternative career tracks" (i.e. I should be FIRST in line for ANY internal position that best matches my current workload vs. salary priorities).

If anything, these workamom perks are less common now than they used to be.

Thanks to all who did riffs on Strangelove. That and The Producers* are the two most quotable comedies ever.

(Also enjoyed the Wallace Stevens.)

*Need I add I don't mean the remake?

Bah. He's getting old. At least he was fit enough to be a paratrooper once upon a time, which isn't something you can say about very many people.

The new article on WESH 2 anchor Joe Oliver's impression of the affair starts off by christening Zimmerman "a white Hispanic"

I like that "unfortunately". You're right, you are getting funnier as you get older.

I don't suppose there's any point in requesting that the moderator hold back the comments of some specific persons until after the 200 milestone has been reached.

I didn't think so.

This is the downside of being moderated by someone who is constitutionally disinclined to get involved.

>WESH 2 anchor Joe Oliver's impression of the [Trayvon Martin] affair starts off by christening Zimmerman "a white Hispanic"<

If Zimmerman is a white Hispanic, then is Obama a white black, or a black white?

Was it Zimmerman's white half that shot Martin or his Peruvian half? Clearly, anti-white activists plump for the former; but are they considering the fact that Hispanics have no noteworthy history of love for blacks?

If the US were to tighten the Mexican border, wouldn't that increase the presence of Peruvian mestizos like Zimmerman relative to that of mestizos from Mexico?

Inquiring minds want to know. Inquiring minds, however, will unfortunately receive the usual answer: yet another write-up about Emmett Till, an ADL press release, and lots of people jumping up and down in the street.

I'm confident Hugo Chavez would never be deemed a white Hispanic even if he gunned down the entire Wu-Tang Clan, Cash Money Millionaires, and No Limit roster. Yet Fidel and Raul are both fairly pale (at least enough to mock Batista as a mulatto, right? And he was lighter complected than George Zimmerman is). Che was Argentinian of course!
