IQ is more heritable than previously thought.

Here.

Yuh mean the brain is part of the body? Too revolutionary for me.

Slightly O/T

While reading this, I noted the following:

This type of blood is in short supply - around 8% of Caucasians have it, and just 0.3% of Asians.

Such is the power of racists, they can force the physical characteristics of different races, sorry, "races", to alter by sheer bigotry alone, so much so that this blood type is 26.6 times as common amongst Europeans as it is amongst Asians. Clearly the social construct "race" is a powerful one!

No of course not. Not only did evolution halt when we left Africa, but natural selection doesn't affect anything neurological. Everyone is the same, remember to repeat 5 times before breakfast!

i don't understand how steve can make a post like this, and then go back to pretending that "hispanic" or "latino" is a race.

dead american indian bones don't realize whether their owners spoke english, spanish, or cherokee. they're just dead american indian bones, not "hispanic" ones. the same for dead african bones. they're not aware of whether their owners were born in the dominican republic or england instead. they're just the bones of a dead african. not a "hispanic". dead european bones are dead european bones whether they're in the ground in canada or argentina.

In the words of our greatest living natural philosopher - Adam Savage, "I reject your reality and substitute my own".

The problem with the race concept is not in the concept itself but in its implications. The race concept hasn't been shown to have been erroneous, it has just been rejected by men with tender sensibilities. It is not so much wrong as it is distastefull.

Every college level genetics or biology class starts with lecture on the inadequacies of the concept of species. Better classes go on to demonstrate the weaknesses of the whole Linnean classification system. After those opening remarks the professor will happily use the term "species" throughout the term.

The reason is that no classification system perfectly maps to nature. The concept of species has a ton of qualifications and exceptions as everyone with any knowledge of biology well knows. So that must mean that The Origin of Species has no importance. Right?

Sensible people use the term species when it makes sense and the term race when it makes sense. Just as it's hard to teach a class in evolution without ever mentioning species. It's hard to discuss most human social phenomena without mentioning race. As you point out, the police realize this reality.

There it is. It's disturbing to some but the problem isn't the term it's popular taste. Modern gentlemen just don't mention race just as Victorian gentlemen never mentioned felatio.

Unfortunately, much of the issue consists of semantic quibbling because academic anthropologists still don't have a workable definition of race (although I do).

This seems like a problem - what are these academic anthropologists supposed to do, cite a lowly blogger?

In general, what do academics do when people without PhDs (shudder!) come up with important ideas before they do? Are there options other than stealing the idea without giving credit, or swearing to just ignore the idea for all eternity?

Nope. From these clowns, theft is the best one can hope for.

Note that the taboo is still on human sexuality. We are free to discuss recreational sexuality as much as we might like, but we may not discuss its nonrecreational features.

Fucking causes race. It's fun to say this to swipples and watch them make faces!
