That if you confess with your mouth, "Jesus is Lord," and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved. Romans 10:9 NIV

It's that simple. But being saved is just the beginning of being a Christian. You do not have to do all of the things that you associate with being a Christian to be saved. However, once you are saved, the Holy Spirit will come into your life and help you to become a better person. You see, you need God's help to overcome sin, you can't do it by yourself. Don't think that you have to make yourself a better person first before seeking God.
