This is an extremely powerful, long-term strategy to keep you permanently bonded with those you love. You can do a lot of things wrong, but if you keep your promises, you will be richly rewarded in terms of the quality of your relationships and the integrity that others will have. On the other hand, if you fail to keep your promises, those around you -- your own family -- will take your words less seriously, or even worse, learn to distrust you altogether. Obviously, no one is perfect, and there will be times when you fail to keep a promise for a variety of reasons -- you will forget, or something "pressing" will come up. In most cases this isn't a problem because keeping your promises isn't an all-or-nothing proposition but a life-time process.
