I appreciated more than liked "House of the Devil," it had good cast and intentions, but it didn't do anything for me. It was for me basically "Just because you can do a thing doesn't mean you should." I didn't feel a hole in my life for more eighties horror films.

That being said, I noticed that "Babysitter wanted" is nearly a shot for shot steal of "House of the Devil."

Funny

Dear Lazarus:
Thanks for the comment!
I looked up 'Babysitter Wanted' on IMDB. It does sound similar; interesting that more people haven't noticed that. Maybe I'll have to check it out myself.
I did enjoy 'House', maybe it had something to do with the atmosphere and the crowd (a midnight movie at The Oriental downtown). We only ever seem to get one horror movie per Milwaukee Film Festival (can you spell UNFAIR, boys and girls?) and I always try to check out what's available. I have to say so far they've done a pretty decent job of picking them. Just too bad they don't give us a couple more.
Anyway, I haven't watched the movie since the festival last fall - even though I did TIVO it shortly after - and it still remains there. maybe someday when I catch up with the (growing) pile of movies I haven't been able to watch yet, I'll watch it again and see how it holds up in my living room.
