I'd never seen a giant robot movie made so well, in my opinion, it's the best giant robots fighting monster movie ever made!

I'm kind of glad he avoided the romance between the jaeger pilots, there's a hint of attraction, but I'm glad they didn't force it in there like they do in most movies.

This movie blew me away, so fun, dare I say the most fun I've had all summer in a summer jam packed with big blockbusters. That's a lot to say in my book! It's one of those movies you feel the urge to immediately see again, at least in my book.

I'll agree with Francisco - giant robots fighting giant monsters, you can't go wrong with that setup, and very well done monsters and robots at that. I suspect del Torro wanted to keep it all pretty streamlined, story telling-wise, so didn't get into a romance, although an attraction was suggested. I found it all very entertaining, I suppose I took it for what it was and wasn't looking for more character development or complexity.

Francisco and Patrick, I recognize I'm in the minority. Most critics have in fact liked PACIFIC RIM. I did too, up to a point. This is Big-Mac-cinema to me, tasty and delicious but utterly disposable and ultimately bad for you. Even the many summer movies I've enjoyed work on multiple levels, political, sociological, etc. PACIFIC RIM is just too straightforward for me to say it did. Would I see it again? Sure. But will I enjoy it as much? Probably not.

how is this movie. [Quote] bad for you. it was really entertaining. and well paced. the monsters show the art designers really knew what they were doing. same with the robots. and personally i liked how the leads didn't get together. its far better than the shitty romance side plots that many action movies go through. i don't think del toro really cared about deep emotional characters. he needed cut and paste characters who are just deep enough to be boring.
