It's true what you say there about Campell preferring the "personal" moments over the messy action sequences, and there are some striking sequnces, including that shocking gun-down on the porch. But this is conventional stuff, and in the end, there's really nothingone could really remember this for. The accomplishment here was that it wasn't and out and out bad film.

Yeah, pretty conventional, but I always think you find out more about any director through some of their boilerplate films. In that sense, EDGE OF DARKNESS was fairly instructive.
