There seemed like two ways to pull this off: either outright berserk as you suggest, maybe with extra heavy emphasis on Abe's wrasslin' skills, or absolutely straight-faced Ken Burns style pseudo-documentary. I doubt any middle ground could work. Maybe the forthcoming FDR:American Badass (I kid you not;watch the trailer) will get closer to the right idea.

Good review Tony. I thought this could have been a little bit more insane than it already was, but whenever it did decide to be crazy, that's when I had the most fun. Also, Walker looked a little bit too much like Liam Neeson to the point of where it was distracting but he was still pretty good.

I've been skeptical about this book and movie -- I couldn't see how anyone could effectively pull off this concept. Based on your excellent review, it seems that I wasn't wrong.
