Nice review Tony. Had no plans to see the movie but you make a compelling argument.

"It is no coincidence then that its protagonists' names are an homage to two lead actors from a cinematic forerunner, 1935's The Bride of Frankenstein"

I had no idea.

"employing allegory"

I didn't know what to refer to it as in my review.

I didn't notice the dialogue hitting like a sledgehammer. For that, watch the remake of Nightmare on Elm Street.(I think I just threw up in my mouth)

You saw a plethora of parental issues I did not in the film.

"This horrific eroticism hybridizes incest and bestiality the same way the film splices together different cinematic genre staples to come up with something entirely new."

Nicely worded.

"The true monsters are Colin and Elsa who exploit her to fulfill their own emotional and intellectual deficiencies."

I came to the same conclusion.

The ending was predictable but at least they gave reasons early on as to why it happened.

ProMovieBlogger,

I like your site.

I'm surprised you missed the "parental issues" allegory in SPLICE. To me, that is all the film is about (I exaggerate, but it surely is a large part). If FRANKENSTEIN is about creation, SPLICE is about procreation.
