After the fist couple Envision Laie meeting, I came away thinking that what they were "selling" wasnt for me. And the way that they proposed it to the community irritated me. I didnt feel like they {Envision Laie) wanted our input at all, i felt like they were there to just make us feel good about home ownership (which almost no could probably afford at this time) so that we would all support "THEIR" vision not our vision.

I laughed when i heard BYUH students testifying.... uh to what? haha!

I'm with you on this. I really don't want to see that community change. I love driving past Gunstock ranch. It is very symbolic for me of visiting my Grandparents every Sunday. Gunstock Ranch would mean that we were getting closer to their house. Of course now, they are gone but this is a memory that I hold on to and I'm reminded of whenever we drive past.

This is just one of many reasons I don't want to see "Envision Laie" take place. Here are some others

Reasons to oppose:
-Traffic congestion
-overcrowding of schools
-can't even control flooding and they want to expand?
-land preservation
-like the small hometown feel.

“ ... In one of my jobs, I had the priviledge of serving a long time supporter of the community a BYU/PCC board member’s wife. She came into the facility I worked in and we had a brief conversation about the development ideas of Laie, out of respect of others opinions I didn’t comment. End of the conversation, she smiled and said “You know if we build it better people will come and live there.” Shocked, I could not believe I heard it. Better people? What better people??

*applauds Well said...and I totally agree...its all about MONEY...HRI lost focus on what's really important...and who the heck are the BYU students to even have a say in any of it...it should ONLY be the LOCALs OF THE LAIE COMMUNITY that have anything to say about Envision Laie. It makes me SICK.
