I should watch Cold Case more often. I remember watching an episode and really enjoying it. It's a nice touch how they show the victim and folks in their younger days after they get vindicated.
I agree that if acted right, some of the same ol' stories do move me.
I'm currently doing some volunteer work at a Computer Training Center my company's sponsoring in a local neighborhood. Every little bit helps I know.
I used to volunteer at a neighboring elementary/middle school where I taught the kids computer basics including typing and how to use PowerPoint. I'd like to think that it helped to prepare them for the future. By familiarizing them when they're young they won't be afraid when they're older.
What ideas do you have? Maybe I can steal one.

What shavar said. I guess I don't watch these type of shows because it's too much for me sometimes. I know how you feel Neena. Whenever I hear stories like these, or subjects like emotional or physical abuse, I feel like I need to do something. Then my thoughts paralyze me and I feel so powerless. But I know one day I'll do something, I gotta DO something!!

"analysis paralysis"... I like that phrase... I think you've touched on a universal condition.
I know I have these same kinds of thoughts, I should do something, anything... then as I start to look at what I could do... the actual need overwhelms me, and I too get stuck.
I do help out at the local soup kitchen from time to time, but I know it's not enough.
Start small. Become a mentor to a child in need..join a committee, then go from there. You're a shining star. They'll see you no matter where you start..just start. The Universe will take over from there.

Did anybody catch the last episode of Cold Case? Its the show that comes on right after CSI.
The show left me with a great deal of sadness. Though we've heard the story told a million times before: gangster changes his life then is murdered in the streets, the dramatic interpretation is ALMOST always very moving, for me.
Everytime I watch something like this, I feel like I have to do something. I have to go out and save the youth of today from themselves. I have to change the community. Eradicate drugs. Teach people to be sovereign individuals. It seems as if I have a million ideas... then I get stuck in "analysis paralysis". That's right, I become paralyzed by my own thoughts. That's not productive at all.
So what do I do? How do you contribute to positivity in your neighborhood?
