No pictures of the bedrooms? Is that because the beds are actually sarcophagi??

that kitchen doesn't even look like it's in the same zip code as the rest of the house... no anubis head faucets?

of course, compared to most of your lovelies on this site, this is a gem... too bad I don't have 655,000 laying around.

t-- It's only US $606,137 (according to Google, price subject to change as US dollar plummets). Does that make it any more reasonable?

oh, how could I have been so silly... of course, that puts it RIGHT in my price range :)

Oh My... Oh My... Wow... There should be laws preventing the overuse of a decorating theme! It looks like the wall sconces have moving "flames" LOL

What a bargain, they should tie it in with the new mummy movie to help the sale. lol

I haven't looked at the rest of the pictures, but I'd like to believe the garage is shaped like a pyramid.

That "ho-hum" kitchen looks pretty good to me. I cannot believe how many of the kitchens in my area (Seattle, WA) have been remodeled by the blind or the soulless. It's not just the hideous granite countertops; it's the disgustingly ornate cabinetry that strives for Versailles but only reaches as far as Home Depot. I could use some moderation and some clean modern lines, but those have all been ripped out.

I don't like it enough to put up with the Egyptian thing, though. I can only imagine what went through the listing agent's mind when he first saw it.

Oh, this will be the perfect house for my sarcophagus collection, potted palms, and scroll library. It's a home were you can truly sleep like the dead. And then I'll lounge around in my silk robes all day long like Cleopatra. Can I keep my camel in the garage?

That is too funny. I think some people have more money than sense these days. Love all the sarcophagi comments. Forwarded this site to my mother-in-law who sells real estate!

AGREED!

I wonder if this person lost their house due to the foreclosure crisis, because Lord knows they weren't thinking RESALE!

Not gonna lie, I like it and would live there. I wouldn't pay that much for it though. Kudos to them for not following the cookie cutter format that HGTV loves to market to those with no individuality.

Damn. Someone beat me to the sarcophagus joke!

I find the beige contractor grade carpet amusing. Like that should appeal to the buyers and they will overlook the heiroglyphics on the walls. "oooh! it has new carpet! How nice"

Sara,

I just found your blog. First, I want to tell you I am cracking up. These photos are hilarious, and somehow satisfying. I guess it's just nice to know I'm not the only one making stupid mistakes on a daily basis.

Second, thank you for introducing me to the spectacle of human tetris! I don't know how I lived without knowing about it!

Third, when you said BOOTY is your book, did you really mean YOUR book? Are you Sara Lorimer of Girl Pirate fame? I LOVE THIS BOOK. A few moves ago I got sick of transporting heavy boxes and I donated of ALL my books except a dozen of my very-favorite-cant-live-without-them volumes. This one made the cut and I still pull it out monthly to share with friends. It's one of my treasures.

thank you!

Here are a couple of suggestions:

- lease time to "music video directors" - be sure to have proper insurance coverage and word the contract to specify damages and alterations

- convert to a "bed/breakfast Egyptian Theme"

The decor is very unique!

Found your blog recently, showed the DH and we were both crying we were laughing so hard. Love the egypt theme, its SO 80's.

After house hunting several times as we moved, I can so relate to these posts!!!

I don't think the beds would be sarcophagi. They'd be nothing more slanted boards with fancy, painted legs and a wooden head rest. Maybe after all of the rest, the realtor thought that would be the deal breaker!

Me! Me! Everybody join in: "All the kids in the marketplace say, Way oh, way oh, waaaay oh, Walk like an Egyptian..."

No roach problem in this place. No, I daresay any bug infestation will involve scarabs.

Let's not speculate about the race, class, or parenting skills of the people who live in these houses. We judge them on the photos they pick, not on who they are as people (unless we really can't help it).
