I read your blog every day and laugh out loud more often than not, though I don't think I've ever commented before now. This was too funny to not say something, though.

I LOVE IT! At least they have a sense of humor, you have to give them that!

Wouldn't have expected anyone who could choose such furnishings to have a sense of the ridiculous, would you? Maybe their ancestors really were...? Gave me a chortle opportunity, anyway, so thank you!

I can't decide if it's the comedy dog portrait over the fire or what appears to be a very small lady in front of the firplace.

Put me out of my misery please

Hooray! My first "It's Lovely" post! I'm thrilled and honored.

Several at work were impressed by the beds -- as the saying goes, "Money can't buy taste" -- but it can buy a LOT of pillows!

Aaaagh, there are more flat dogs and people! There's a dog pillow on the sofa, and I think the picture in the top of the bookcase might be a dog. And then in the foyer, there's another short, flat person.

Eek! Isn't that the dog from the backyard - the giant one peeking through the double glass doors?

If I had the cash, I'd buy this in a heartbeat, doggie portrait and all. Especially the doggie portrait. That's awesome.

Its almost as if the entire interior of the house exists just to set up the dog portrait.

This home is brilliant!

Blogger Lauren said...

No - the way scarier thing is the pygmy-high-society lady standing behind the chair, pushing it in.

Like what, does the house come with a magical maid from the days of yore? Or did someone make some kind of renaissance quarter-size cardboard cutout person?

Please tell me that the ornate vases with lids on the mantel are just that; vases.

They aren't urns, right? Right. Absolutely right. No way are those urns.

Please, God.

Did anyone else notice that they blurred out the faces of the people in the photos on the front table in picture two?

Didn't want anyone to know who was related to Sir Woofsalot?

I enjoy classy decor, but it appears these people were on the way to classy and then became very, very lost. And then some.

I guess I am the exception here but I LOVE it, doggie portrait and all. I have seen such oil paintings and think they are whimsical and fun. Now I need to go and count the change in our coin jar...think I could swing the

Clearly this is the house where Emily from Bagpuss now lives.

What I think is wrong is that Madeleine Remnant is living there, but where are the mice, Gabriel Croaker and Professor Yaffle? And where for the love of God is that old, saggy cloth cat Bagpuss?

I hope it has nothing to do with Sir Woofsalot.

Am I the only one who wished the portrait in the second had the horse riding the human? It would suit the animal-centered decore much better :)

January 15, 2009 at 9:01 PM

Blogger Kerry said...

LOL you guys have said it...but I have to add there's something awfully Photoshoppy about this picture - maybe it's the way the perspective made me squint when I looked at the big size. Also, the tiny 18th century maid was a clue.

Blogger Justine said...

It's only 32 Mil? At that cheap price I'm sure it won't come furnished. They'll probably take the drapes down too. Bummer.

It looks like the doggie version of Mario Buatto (The Prince of Chintz) designed the place. But, I could roll with the funhouse effect. :)

What gets me about this place is that for $32 million it's not even a brownstone -- it's a coop apartment with more than $8000/month in maintenance. Probably a pretty nice building, with parking and a doorman and thick walls and all, but still if you had a spare $32 million a brownstone on the East Side would be much, much nicer.

January 17, 2009 at 8:24 AM

I am horrified by those awful brown spots...are those roaches?! Moths?!
They are horribly creepy, and if they are bugs, this place needs some hardcore fumigation.

Blogger A Dog Person said...

What's so off is that it costs over 30 million dollars and if you buy it, you'll have to share your home with a creepy midget in front of the fireplace.

January 31, 2009 at 3:38 PM

Let's not speculate about the race, class, or parenting skills of the people who live in these houses. We judge them on the photos they pick, not on who they are as people (unless we really can't help it).
