I am so confused by all the toilets in the living room, refrigerators in the bathroom, chairs in the bathroom... maybe I who expect too much privacy. Maybe if I moved to a new home with more furniture around my toilet I would be more open-minded and easy going. Or just more grossed out.

The last listing from New York had a beautiful claw foot tub in the kitchen -- now a toilet in the living room. I'm convinced that New York apartment dwellers have issues.

Rita, a lot of old New York apartments were "cold-water flats" with no hot water other than what came from a pot on the stove. So, it made sense to put the tub in the kitchen. You also only needed one sink that way. No toilet, but probably a shared outhouse. Later, the toilet was added to the apartment wherever it was easy. I saw one in a closet off the living room. Fran Lebovitz had a great routine on NYC apartments--they're enough to give anyone issues. :)

ummm did you notice this:

Rooms 2.5

I simply do not understand why toilets are always placed in such odd areas. Soon enough there will be a listing with two toilets on opposite walls, facing each other. Similar to open-ended stalls in a private home.

I guess this isn't the most notable thing in this picture, but is that coffee table missing a leg?

I think the toilet isn't really hooked up and working ... it's just for decor.

How's that for a thought?

Either way is a puzzle.

I don't think the one is the living room is a functioning toilet either, just an interesting fixture. Maybe it's signed "R. Mutt?"

Humm... Wouldn't that commode be more comfortable--not to mention practical--at the computer desk?

Let's not speculate about the race, class, or parenting skills of the people who live in these houses. We judge them on the photos they pick, not on who they are as people (unless we really can't help it).
