Oh dear. I see what you mean my impulse control. For me those shelves were clearly meant for shoes.

That house is creepy to the max. What about the bathroom with all the wood hands around the tub? All I kept thinking of was Beetlejuice when I was looking through the pictures.
Day-o, Day-ay-ay-o Daylight come and me wan' go home...
Okay, with the exception of the massive collection of snowglobes ... I actually kind of covet the rest of the house. I like the artwork, and how everything seems to be thoughtfully displayed as part of a collection -- even the hands around the bath made me smile. The house itself is a bit too McMansion for me, but the artwork and decor made it homey-er for me.
But the snowglobes ... for some reason that's just too far.
OMG - I just found your blog by looking at the blogs a friend follows. Now that is a lot of snow globes! Thanks for sharing your interesting finds! Amy http://newenglandquilter.blogspot.com/

The decorating (all of it) is flat out horrid to my taste. But the house itself has TONS of promise, and the grounds? FABULOUS!

A 2.5 million dollar home with cheesy common bathroom sink faucets?
OMG that house! Those snowglobes! Those dining room chairs! That bathroom! I'm running out of exclamation points! I am so, so, so glad I don't know those people.
The house itself is lovely. The grounds are amazing. However...
Sweet mother of mercy! As a collector of snowglobes, I'm seeing Ghost of Christmas Yet To Come here. Picture this... I win the lottery. I buy a big-ass house for a couple mil. I have quit my job, you know since I won the lottery, and now I have all the time and money I have ever wanted to travel. Five years into the future, my house looks like this. This is way better than therapy! I'm officially off snowglobes for good.

The house screams "new money". It's definitely a case of a person with too much time/space on their hands trying to decorate/appoint a house that is far too large for what they need. (My guess is that it belongs to a wealthy, middle-aged couple with either no children, or the kids are grown up and have moved out.) I love how they have one classic chair in the loving room amongst all of the ultra-modern furnishings, like it is a tip of the hat to grandma or something. Good call on the common faucets in the bathrooms-it doesn't make sense in a house in that price range. But, if you look closely, pretty much everything is middle to lower end. I'd hate to be the one that had to pack up all of those snow globes...

I agree about the X bedrooms X=1 1/2 bathrooms. What gives? The decorations seem pretty young but the house is 2+ mil. I am dying to know who lives here.
There but for the grace of a small income go I. Look at room after room, and note how many collections are represented/displayed and how many walls o' shelves and drawers and stuff there are. They've got taste (I like their aesthetic, anyway) and they've got space, at least here, so it doesn't look too crackers until you get to the snowglobe room. But I'm thinking they put their HELOC on eBay and that's why the house has to go.
I love the layout of the house and the surrounding landscape. Decor kind of scares me though. I predict the person selling this came into money suddenly, hence proudly displaying their toy collection over a toilet.
OK, so having seen the rest of it, maybe I don't want it. It seems to have got stuck in the 80s. Not sure I could stand reliving those years.

Wow, I think this house is owned by the absolute most flamboyant, rainbow-riding gay couple in the universe. It even has a rainbow theme, and a bunch of masculine-yet-tasteful guest bedrooms. Apparently sometimes they have really huge parties, how else can you explain 7 bathrooms? I want to make friends with them and sell them my art!

Wow...what a weird mix of styles. Despite all the stuff in the pictures though it didn't feel like a house people lived in.
In all seriousness, the entire place looks like someone designed it in The Sims after learning the money cheat code. There is some wacky interior design going on in there.
t couldnt have put it better...holy crap! now i see the skittles reference and my gosh, does it look like a pier 1 threw up in their house?

Worse than the snow globes? The rainbow dining chairs. GAH!

When I flipped through this listing -- found by Helen -- at first I couldn't tell what had caught her eye. So they have a few shelves of snowglobes... so what? I've owned more than my fair share of Homer Laughlin restaurant dishware in my time; I don't begrudge people collections and hobbies.

But then I saw this.
[Image] All I can think of is me, this room, and my poor impulse control. Oh, it would be bad.

Wow - hard to imagine inspecting the property without removing your shoes. BTW - is there a listing link?
Thanks again for the great blog.

I forgot the link. Hold on, I'll stick it in there somewhere.

so does the sticker price include all those trinkets?

Wonder if they serve Skittles for dinner. Should not stray from the 'rainbow of color' scheme.
As for the snowglobes, I think I shall go upstairs purge my daughter's paltry collection (three) before they decide to go forth and multiply.

Man, hubby and father in law were staring at me while I went into serious hysterics over the dining table... WOW!
Some rooms looked like I could have designed them! Eek!
And a $2.5 mil pool home without a picture of the pool, makes me wonder if it has the luscious green spa water....
Also, I never really understood the whole X bdrms, X+1 baths. Bladder control problems?

September 16, 2008 at 7:42 AM
Can you imagine actually having to move all of those? Hope they've got lots of bubble wrap...

Looking at Casa Rosebud again...is that chair in the front hallway indicative of the owners?
September 17, 2008 at 9:11 AM
corbin bernson's house? i was thinking more like paris hilton's house - when she's 43.
and talk about a hot seat in the foyer. people, that is NOT welcoming!
this was great fun - more of these houses! the old, decrepit, fighting chairs houses are getting depressing :0(
