Didn't I see that toilet in "Trainspotting"?

Tell me that this is a restroom at a gas station. Please. I couldn't see the listing. This can't be in a house. Please. It's a gas station where 30 years ago the owner's wife tried to pretty it up with lid and tank covers. (I won't dare to speculate on the original color.)

Sorry, linnee. It's a house. A real house, where people live. I couldn't make the link work, but it's MLS 2506859.

I've been looking at your blog and laughing every day now for weeks. And I'm not a realtor either! But today you got me with this, OH MAN! ha.ha. So gross. You are very funny sara! My theory is that someone used that toilet as a wash bin for a muddy bucket. They tried to flush mud. It's just too much gross to be the other.

This just makes me want to take some bleach into my bathroom and scrub everything down. Scrub and srub and scrub. Just so it never ever looks like this picture.

I believe it's a real house. I went through one like it several years back. Photos:

I looked up that MLS and it said the house was CLEAN. They didn't have any pictures besides the frontal view.

By the way, I found your blog by accident and I LOVE YOU!!! Thanks for the awesomeness.

You can find the whole listing on www.gsmls.com. Select Essex County, Irvington Twp, and price range of $75K to $100K. It's the 8th house down. It's also listed on www.realtor.com and www.kw.com but the realtors wisely stopped short of posting the foul toilet photo.

I guess some real estate agents have the sense not to use the photo, but you can see it in more context here:

http://www.housepile.com/gallery/10nadenave/IMG_1549

It's from an older listing (the price has gone down since then), so it probably won't be up long.

From all the other posting pictures, it looks like someone came in armed with a variety of cleaning supplies... Started to clean, and then realized they did not bring enough cleaning product. Crestfallen, but not ready to give up, they ventured into the basement to see if there might be any extra supplies left down there... saw the toilet... and ran screaming from the house, never to be seen again.

Hell, I'll pay them just to bulldoze the place and then burn the rubble as a sanitation method.

I will never complain about the condition my kids keep their bathroom and bedrooms again. At least their rooms are spotless in comparison.

This reminds me of something I saw underneath Mexico City, back in 1982. Seriously.

What I would REALLY like to see is that clean-freak guy... who is it? The one who cleans his bathroom with rubbing alcohol and then lights a match, and WHOOSH, everything is sanitized?

Yeah, I would love to see him take on this bathroom!

The worst thing is...this listing isn't up anymore. So that means it's either off the market or *gulp* somebody BOUGHT it!

Let's not speculate about the race, class, or parenting skills of the people who live in these houses. We judge them on the photos they pick, not on who they are as people (unless we really can't help it).
