Not the most attractive photo of the patio area (but would work well enough for your average college party). I'm more disturbed by the bathroom photo. What? Do you have to step out of the shower directly into the toilet?
This looks like the "shared yard" of the places I lived in in college---in fact, this looks like most Albuquerque yards. Memories!

For a city apartment, it isn't too bad actually. I've seen much worse. The patio looks like a crime scene, however. But, the eternal optimist in me says "Nothing a good broom and some geraniums can't fix!"
In Realtor (TM) school "shared outdoor/patio area" is a nice way of saying "back alley where illicit acts occur with startling frequency".

Good lord, shared access? With whom? The other inmates of the correctional facility, because really, it's just that attractive.
A couple of paint brushes, a plant or two and you're good to go (uh...sort of) but until then, here's an idea: Don't freaking photograph it.

You can tell just by the different vibes the bathroom gives off from the bedroom how much natural lighting helps a photo.
But that alley thing shouldn't have even been included. The worst mental picture would have been more flattering. Or at least wait until a day after it rains, so the blocks are not so wet and moldy-looking
