I found this story particularly interesting as Lariam is a drug that has all the necessary approvals and warnings on side effects. Can you launch a class action against something which is sold freely? serp and I were prescribed Lariam for our stay in Thailand and warned off it by our travel agent but it was either that or doxycycline. A choice between possible psychosis once a week, or sun sensitivity and reduced effectiveness of the pill every day. We didn't have any problems from it although I did insist we take it before going to sleep so that if there was going to be any psychosis it would pass us by!
But Lariam is not an experimental drug. And I asked two doctors about it and they said generally that psychosis would manifest itself if there were already 'underlying mental issues'. Naturally I wanted to find out if I had any! (I didn't, I think there was some mild spaciness and irritability but that was all.)
In other news, PMS came to a head last night in the form of nachos, mint slice, musk sticks and chocolate rollettes. Today I feel revolting. All I can see in the mirror is a squat little porker. Yuck yuck. serp is finding it immensely amusing! My arms look like sausages. I gotta do some weight training. Just so that when I move, my flab doesnt. That's all I want. For stuff not to wobble. So I thought I'd do x pushups a night and some situps and some lunges. That is it. I dont have time for other stuff. I'll try and run at lunch at work too.
"Psychosis."
