This trip to Uganda was pretty different than either of my other two.The first trip was filled with getting comfortable and wrecked.Figure that one out.
The second trip was all about Leah.My obsession with bonding and attachment and embassy appointments, passports, pictures, more embassy appointments, visas, last minute flights.... all of it left me little time to really enjoy being in Uganda.
This trip was different.While I missed my kids -- tons -- I was fully immersed in Uganda.Doing medical clinics leaves you little other choice.
One thing, in particular, stood out.
[Image]The women.The older women.
They were beautiful.Wrinkled, creased, worn and gorgeous.I couldn't take my eyes off of them.Such stories their faces held.

And while the fantastically beautiful faces of these women reflect the etchings of our Savior in every groove, we in America are obsessed with fighting the effects of aging with every dollar we can spare.Instead of celebrating the tracks life leaves, we seek to cover them.

I wonder what trials and triumphs those beautiful faces have seen.I marvel at their resilience of these women, even when it was nearly impossible to climb the hill.

And I want to do more.More to celebrate their life.More to cure their aches and pains.More to make sure they know Jesus.
Planning another clinic trip in the summer.....Hoping to see all of my beautiful friends again.
