On Sunday, December 8, 2013, just three days after his one-year anniversary of arriving in the U.S., Zechariah Asaba Vincent Steiner was dedicated to our Lord. Amen!
It was a precious day filled with lots of smiles, tears, and even a few notable conversations.

Zechariah was picked up by Pastor Todd, who spoke about what his name means.

Zechariah means, "Yahweh remembers." Indeed, as Todd spoke, God never forgot you, my precious son. Ever.

Precious, nervous boy.

Asaba means "To pray with hope" and Vincent means "To conquer."
I pray these truths over your life, my Zechariah. I love you to my core.
At brunch, after his dedication, Zechariah announced out of the blue,
"We didn't have toys in Uganda."
Truth. I mentioned to him that they sure did have a lot of fun without toys!
He then said, "Sometimes people came on big airplanes and brought cars to us."
Another truth, and fuel to my growing fire of concern about "rich white gifting" that happens in developing countries. Ugh.
Later at bedtime, Zechariah shared his {oft mentioned} prayer that our family would have a daddy. I told him that I was praying for that too and that no matter how God answered us, He would answer and He is faithful. And then he said this:
"Mom, I just think that if we had a daddy, you wouldn't have to do all the work."
Then I had to cry a little.
{sigh}
Jesus, I again thank you for this amazing son you have given me and the perfect fit he is for our family. I pray that you will continue to bless all four of us until that glorious day when your perfect, complete plan is revealed. THANK YOU for building us, shaping us, and making us whole, no matter what. I love you, desperately. Amen.
