This is a picture of inside our house, at the front door. I call this area the "shoe pit".
We have tried to have our family remove their shoes and place them in an orderly fashion by the door.
We have tried to limit the number of shoes to one pair per person in the shoe pit.
These efforts are obviously fruitless as you can see in the picture.
But, despite the fact that I really do not like the mess, I also love what the shoe pit represents - that our wonderful children run in and out of the house each day and that they depend on our home for safety and love and as a place where they can grow and develop their dreams.
Sure it is messy, embarrassing, and a safety hazard, but I am sure that years down the road when our shoe pit is down to just two simple pairs, I will look at this photo and ache for the times when it was so messy.
"Do I *really* hate the shoe pit?"
