The Sony HDR-HC1 is one of the most popular but for anyone except pro-sumers, too expensive. It's quite popular and has great specs - a friend who has one really loves it. PCWorld says HD Camcorders aren't yet worth buying. That's what I concluded too, though recently a gadget-loving friend told me that he is loving his new Sony and the positively brilliant images you can get.
