...a new life. Ok, so maybe not desperately. Maybe not a whole new life. Just something new-ish.

This is born of the fact that I've been battling major frustration with my job. On one hand I really like the people I work with and some of the work I do somewhat important... definitely good stuff for my resume and writing portfolio. On the other hand, its boring. REALLY boring. Although most days fly by because I'm always insanely busy, I spend every conscious moment fantasizing about all the other things I'd rather be doing.

Consulting really spoiled me. I did lots of creative stuff. I exercised on a regular basis. I cooked. I cleaned the house (ok, so "cleaned" might be an exaggeration so let's use that one loosely, ok?). Did I mention that I EXERCISED? I actually finished knitting projects. I kept in touch with friends. I ran errands in a timely manner. I don't accomplish much of those things anymore.

But I do strongly believe in being the master of one's own destiny. So I've been trying to carve out time for creative efforts (hopefully getting some peer influence from the Baltimore Etsy Street Team which I have recently joined). And when the weather gets better, I'm going back to running and biking [don't give me that look! I'm gonna do it! I swear!] AND this weekend I uploaded some "good-for-the-time-being" web pages to my Cube Farm site.

Although I'm not actively consulting right now, I'm trying to pick up a few writing gigs. Times are tough, ya know? And mama always needs a new pair of shoes! Most notably, I sent my resume and some writing samples to a pretty well known travel guide publisher in hopes of being invited to submit a proposal ... they're looking for someone to author a Baltimore guidebook. Of course, in response to this submission, my ever supportive spouse [are you catching the sarcasm here?] asked "What do you know about Baltimore?"

Its a wonder I even get out of bed, right?
