"Spellbinding displays of artistry"....I love that! I think this postcard is my favorite of all the ones you've shown. My cats spend a lot of time in the studio but not one "pawtrait" have they produced!
Howdy Snap Happy PFF to you . This is truly wonderful. Such a fun post and so uniquely one of a kind like you :) Love it !!!! Thank you for sharing this awesome treasure with us today. Have a fabulous weekend. Until next time Happy Trails
I wonder if I could get Midnight to do this. Ah yes then I could retire and eat bon bons all day! Love the card. You are a wealth of great information. I have been bad... was trying to clean out the studio and took a nasty spill over some boxes & wood for carving. Ended up in a heap on the floor with a deep gash in my leg, bruised both hips, right shoulder & wrist & fingers. That's how DH found me. I just tried to laugh and say " welcome home dear and how was your day!" But just wanted to check in with you. Your posts always make my day! Hi to Mr. D.
It certainly did make me smile as did your last post "Good Morning"! How wonderful you know the date of the original poster, Blessings, Lisa

I couldn't resist this postcard. It is from the postcard book Cat Artist's And Their Work. The original is a lithograph poster made around 1887 and can be found in theMuseum of Animal Acts in Wisconsin.
The back of the postcard reads:"Cat-marking behavior was trivialized in Victorian times, as this poster shows. While Matissa certainly made marks with paint, Mrs. Broadmoore(in reality a rather portly man dressed as a woman),amused the audience by pretending that the cat's simple paintings were"pawtraits" of people in the audience."
A big thank you to Beth for hosting Postcard Friendship Friday.
I hope this card brought a smile to your face.Wishing you well and a fun filled weekend!

Fascinating glimpse into the past. My cats do a lot of things, but painting is not one of them. To be fair, I've never given them the opportunity. :D

Great card. I have a postcard from Thailand showing an elephant painting. And there is the famous youtube video of the cat playing piano.

I'll have to give one a brush and look out for "deft movements of paws" although I think it may be a CATastrophe.
Great card.

I'm sure Cassie could create a masterpiece if only you would supply her with a bit of paint, Snap. Have a good weekend with Mr Dragon.

I'm not going to let my cat see this post. He has enough fun with the printer now that he knows which buttons to press!
