I lived in Irving Texas for over two years but never made it to Houston. The churches and the trees really look nice. The thing I loved most about Texas was the people.
This is my main blog. You took some great angle shots! These are beautiful photos! I've been to Houston a couple of times, but for family meetings only, didn't get a chance to do a lot of R&R.
Hi Snap, The entire 12 yrs. we lived in Clear Lake, I seldom went to downtown Houston. The church that I have been too many times (for meetings and conferences) was First United Methodist downtown. I'm not sure I ever went to the museum district. OH--we did go to some Astros games down there.
I've been completely preoccupied with thoughts about religion and America for an hour since I saw your photographs. I really need to start making notebooks but I'm going to check what the difference is between methodist and presbyterian; I started to wonder why the presbyterian church looks so pointy and exact and I wonder if Americans are as church-going as they seem on TV? I'm thinking - if so, does it have to do with being such a young country, and large, and having lots and lots of states within one country - is religion a way to hold it together and feel safer? You'd never hear a politician say "God bless you" in Sweden. If someone goes to church on a regular basis or talks about God they are VERY religious - otherwise people may believe but in a private, personal way I suppose. I don't know. I have to start making those books now - been selling them faster than I can make them :)
Had no idea Houston was so green and luscious. Wouldn't know which church to go to. Yes, Americans are church goers, but I suspect it's for social reasons - gives you a chance to catch up with everyone. Wonderful photos.
Those are the best photos of Houston I've ever seen. When I think of Houston, all I can mentally see is towering clover-leaf highway ramps, bumper-to-bumper traffic, and of course, feel the H.E.A.T. :)

Wonderful pictures of the church steeples! There is something about the architecture of each one that just gives one a reverent feeling. Such a great tree lined sidewalk and even though I KNOW it's hot there, it looks like a pleasant cool walking street.
I saw your comment on Daisy Cottage ands stopped by to say hello. I saw Luie & Julia and loved it too! That part of Houston is beautiful. Our son and his family live in The Woodlands.

Beautiful photos! The tree lined street at the top is my favorite. It reminds me of the street where my grandma lived when I was a child.
