Thanks for the visit, my Snappy friend, and for your earlier posts where I now know another book I NEED and some cool places to get embroidery ideas. [Life is good.] Hope your weekend will be lovely :O)
I love reading about the history you post. Congratulations on winning that book! Yay for winning lovely stuff! I'm glad the parcel got there - it certainly took it's time - must be those stringent security border checks!
Marie had a lovely postcard from Picadilly Circus posted for PFF. I didn't have anything like that so I visited the New York Public Library and found this:
[Image]"London Life - No. 7. A Newsvendor. Beagles Postcards In Many Favourable Spots For Custom, Newsvendors Have Secured An Odd Corner Or Railing, Which Serves In Place Of A Shop For The Sale Of Their Wide Selection of Periodicals And Newspapers"
The Library listed the following additional information: Schwimmer-Lloyd collection, 1852-1980, bulk (1890-1960) / Rosika Schwimmer Papers / J. Photographs / Woman Suffrage and Feminism. / Individuals / Women's Professions
Location : Stephen A. Schwarzman Building / Manuscripts and Archives Division

That is an interesting card. It is also interesting that they have it filed under "women's professions."

What a card! Gosh, I really like my job...I wouldn't want to have that job! How she is sitting does not look comfortable or ergonomically sound! LOL!
